1. Introduction Regarding education, the Faculty of Criminal Justice, University of Law – Vietnam National University is entrusted with the task of training undergraduate (bachelor's) and postgraduate (master's and doctoral) students in the fields of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law. In terms of scientific research, the Faculty of Criminal Justice is responsible for implementing scientific activities in the fields of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, contributing to the creation, transfer of knowledge, consultation, and policy recommendation in the field of criminal justice. The name "Faculty of Criminal Justice" appeared in September 2022 when the University of Law, Vietnam National University was established on the basis of the School of Law, Vietnam National University. However, the predecessor of the Faculty of Criminal Justice was the Department of Criminal Justice, which had a long history and was closely linked to the development of the Faculty of Law, University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the past and later the School of Law, Vietnam National University. There are currently 13 lecturers in The Faculty of Criminal Justice, including 1 Prof.Dr.Sc, 1 Prof.Dr, 4 Assoc.Prof.Dr, 6 doctors, and and 01 Master’s graduate student who is pursuing a PhD degree. Many of the faculty members of the Faculty of Criminal Justice are pioneering scientists who have played important roles in the process of building the modern legal system of Vietnam. The Faculty of Criminal Justice also has full-time lecturers who are experienced legal professionals and have held leadership positions in the National Assembly, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Government Office, and the Vietnam Bar Federation. The Faculty has built a generation of young and capable lecturers and a diverse team of collaborators, including reputable scholars and experienced practitioners both in Vietnam and abroad. 2. Subjects Undergraduate programs: The Faculty manages and undertakes 03 main compulsory subjects: Criminal law 1 (General part); Criminal law 2 (part on crimes); Criminal procedure law and other compulsory and voluntary subjects in the field of criminal justice for undergraduate students: Law on execution of criminal judgments, Criminology, Criminal justice system and updated subjects. Graduate programs: Faculty of Criminal Justice is responsible for one PhD program in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law; and two Master's programs in research-oriented and application-oriented Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law. The courses are designed and updated to provide students with in-depth knowledge and necessary skills for research and legal application, contributing to supporting their professional activities in various positions related to the field of law and criminal justice. 3. Main research areas The main research of Faculty of Criminal Justice include: - Criminal policy - Criminal liability and punishment - Human rights in criminal justice - Models of criminal proceedings - Legal institutions and systems in the process of judicial reform and the construction of a socialist rule-of-law state in Vietnam - History and traditional values of criminal justice in Vietnam - Vietnamese law in the face of non-traditional security challenges and the Fourth Industrial Revolution - Modern theories of criminology - Transnational organized crime. Follow the above orientation, Faculty of Criminal Justice has been organizing many scientific forums such as conferences, workshops, and talk shows, gathering many reputable scholars in the legal field. The faculty's lecturers have published many specialized books, references, undergraduate and postgraduate textbooks, and also participate in scientific publications issued by prestigious publishers worldwide. In addition, the lecturers are also authors of scientific articles published in specialized legal journals and have high-level scientific research projects with high scientific significance and practical importance, serving the important task of judicial reform and building, improving the socialist rule-of-law in Vietnam.
